Trump Assassination Attempt

On Saturday, September 16, a man was arrested after allegedly making threats to assassinate President Trump. The man, identified as Jarrod Ramos, 38, of Aberdeen, Maryland, was charged with threatening the president. Ramos was arrested after he allegedly made threats on social media and sent threatening letters to the White House.

The Secret Service is investigating the threats and has increased security around the president.

Federal Reserve Rate Cut

On Wednesday, September 19, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the second time this year. The Fed cut rates by a quarter-point, to a range of 1.75% to 2%. This is the second rate cut this year, following a quarter-point cut in July.

The Fed cited slowing global growth and trade tensions as reasons for the rate cut. The Fed also said that it will continue to monitor the economy and adjust rates as necessary.

The Election

The 2020 presidential election is less than a year away, and the candidates are already starting to campaign. On Tuesday, September 17, former Vice President Joe Biden released a new campaign ad that focuses on his experience and his plans for the country.

The ad features Biden talking about his upbringing in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and his work as a senator and vice president. Biden also talks about his plans for the country, including investing in education, healthcare, and clean energy.
